SMS Emergency System at NYU
Upcoming Test of Emergency Text Message System
Your safety is a top priority for NYU. One of the most important tools in any
emergency is swift communication. As you may have heard, NYU now has the
capacity to send text messages to your mobile device in order to provide you
with direct and timely information in case of an emergency. These messages will
be important for your personal safety.
THE UNIVERSITY WILL CONDUCT ONE TEST PER SEMESTER. This semester’s test will
be performed next Tuesday, February 12th. We strongly urge any student or
employee who has not yet registered their cell phone to do so today. Those that
enter their cell phone numbers in the next 24-48 hours will receive the test
text message on February 12th.
We remind you that your number will be kept confidential and will be used only
in an emergency situation. If you receive a text message from “38671 NYU
Emergency Alert”, please follow the directions immediately.
If you are a student, please update your cell phone number by logging into
NYUHome, going to Albert, and clicking on the “Email/Cell Phone/Fax” link under
the “Personal Profile” section.
If you are an NYU employee, please update your cell phone number by logging into
NYUHome, click on the Work tab, then the ePass Employee Self-Service channel,
login to ePass with your NYUHome login and password, click on ePass Employee
Self Service and update your cell phone in the Home information section.
Other key sources of campus-wide emergency information include
www.nyu.edu/info.alert, the NYU Information Hotline at 212-998-1220, uniformed
Public Safety Officers, and your email inbox.
